Bird Watching
Paradise

Bird Watching Paradise Serendipity Mount Marsden is a sanctuary for avian diversity
Offering a rare opportunity to observe nature in its most undisturbed state. During our recent Bird Festival weekend (September 19–21), we recorded a remarkable total of 47 distinct species across the estate. This thriving ecosystem provides a vital haven for native wildlife, including three species currently categorized as Vulnerable in New South Wales: the Diamond Firetail, the Little Lorikeet, and the Speckled Warbler.
From the vibrant colors of the Australian King-Parrot and Eastern Rosella to the distinctive calls of the Laughing Kookaburra, the estate is alive with activity. Guests can immerse themselves in this natural theater, observing species ranging from the Superb Fairywren and Sacred Kingfisher to the White-throated Treecreeper in their native habitat.
We invite you to visit Mount Marsden to experience the beauty of these magnificent birds firsthand, witnessing the rich biodiversity that defines our corner of the Capertee Valley.
Listen to the Valley
Wake with the birds, follow their calls through the trees, and discover the extraordinary diversity that surrounds Serendipity Mount Marsden. With 47 species recorded across the estate, every walk can bring a new encounter – from colorful parrots and delicate fairywrens to kookaburras, kingfishers and woodland birds.
Serendipity sits within the wider Capertee Valley landscape, an important region for bird conservation. BirdLife Southern NSW is actively working in the valley through projects such as the Regent Honeyeater Acoustic Monitoring Project, using acoustic technology to understand bird activity and support the recovery of one of Australia’s threatened woodland birds.
Bring your binoculars, take your time, and let the landscape reveal itself-one call, one movement and one unexpected sighting at a time.
